WHAT IS COAST 93.1?
Coast 93.1 (WMGX-FM) is home to one of Southern Maine’s most listened-to radio programs. The Blake Show with Kelly and Todd launches each morning with celebrity gossip, fun contests, topical content, and humor culled from everyday life. Coast music features today’s biggest hits but with a decidedly adult lean towards active, Working Women between the ages of 25 and 49. (In fact, the show reaches twice the weekly number of Women 25-49 than the next highest-rated commercial station). Alyssa Lawhorne commands the at-work shift between 10:00AM and 3:00PM with a lunchtime break for the 90’s hottest hits in our “90’s Nooner,” while Tarsetti cranks up the energy for afternoon drive. Like all Portland Media Group Stations, Coast 93.1 features local personality influencers who “know” Southern Maine because they’re “from” Southern Maine. And because Coast 93.1 has broad appeal across the entire demographic spectrum, many advertisers utilize the station as a “tentpole” of their audio ad strategy. We’re typically among Portland’s highest rated commercial stations for Adults and Women 25-54 (© The Nielsen Company Multi-Book Average Fall 2023 to Spring 2024 Total Week AQH and Cume).

THE OUTLAW PAIRS WELL WITH:
- 101.9 POR’s more contemporary Country audience with a special emphasis on suburban Adults between the ages of 45 and 64.

Branding: Portland’s Pure Oldies
Format: Rock’n’Roll Hits from 1955-1968
Website: pureoldies1055.com
WHAT IS PURE OLDIES?
British Invaders to Motown Masters, Timeless Crooners to a Memphis King–they’re all back in Southern Maine on Pure Oldies 105.5. Unlike other channels, we play nothing but the biggest chart-toppers from the ’50s and ’60s, including the Beatles, Elvis, the Beach Boys, Neil Diamond, The Supremes, Sam Cooke and many more. This is the soundtrack of America’s post-war Baby Boom. But Pure Oldies 105.5 also has mass appeal, with million-selling hits beloved across the generations. It’s the ideal commercial environment because our listeners are always in a positive, upbeat frame of mind. Nationwide consumer research indicates nostalgia is especially therapeutic in the Post-Covid era, and Americans hark back to a simpler, happier time. Best of all, adults over the age of 55 account for almost a third of Maine’s population and have the largest household net worth of any demographic group.
PURE OLDIES PAIRS WELL WITH:
- Whoopie 100.9 or The Bay to reach the broadest cross-section of older Baby Boom consumers when they’re most receptive to hearing your message.

Format: Soft Rock Hits
Website: bayfavorites.com

WHAT IS THE BAY?
The Bay fills an audio void in the Portland market for a softer sounding station purposely designed for office and retail listening. Our curated music blend features soft rock stars of the ’70s and ’80s who aren’t often heard on commercial radio, with a few newer titles mixed in for good measure. The Bay is heard on two FM signals (93.5 and 107.1)–one covering greater Portland and one in York County. Our proprietary music formula is designed to be entertaining without intrusion, and commercial limits are strictly enforced. It’s a refreshing concept that targets Working Women between the ages of 35 and 64. Since Fall 2021, The Bay’s audience has more than quintupled in size, making it Southern Maine’s fastest-growing Radio station. (© The Nielsen Company AQH Persons 12+ Fall 2021 to Fall 2022).
THE BAY PAIRS WELL WITH:

WHAT IS WGAN?
NewsRadio 98.5 FM and AM 560 WGAN is Southern Maine’s Radio news authority with the resources of CBS News, local newscasts seven days a week and exclusive AccuWeather forecasts. WGAN is also home to some of talk radio’s biggest stars including local opinion shapers Matt Gagnon in the morning and Howie Carr afternoons. Since 1938, Mainers have counted on WGAN for up-to-date information and topical talk, and our commitment lives on today with a curious, opinionated and engaged audience of adult listeners over the age of 45 and skewing Male. A 2021 study conducted by Edison Research labels these listeners “Infomaniacs” who prefer the spoken word format, are among the most educated and affluent of all Radio listeners, and two-thirds of whom are more attentive to commercials because they’re woven into the talk Radio experience. Advertisers frequently pair NewsRadio WGAN with Whoopie 100.9, The Bay or Pure Oldies to deliver news and talk listeners when they’re in a more relaxed, recreational mode.
